about me

Hello, I’m Jenny Wilson, a native English speaker and professional translator working in the creative sector.

With over 10 years of experience in the arts and culture sector, I translate, edit and revise exhibition texts, essays, in-depth publications and more.

background

This is the bit where I tell you more about me: switching between two languages was a given with my British father and Dutch mother. Born in the Netherlands, my family’s subsequent move to the beautiful British Isles cemented English as my native language, both within the home and the wider world.

Flying the nest from the magical Isle of Man, I set off to study in London, where I graduated with a B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins School of Art. This whirlwind city was my home for five years, the last two of which were spent working as an account manager for a greetings card publisher – a versatile and hands-on role.

From London, I moved to Groningen in the Northern Netherlands where I obtained a master’s degree in Painting at the Frank Mohr Institute. My journey into translation unfolded here, as I began translating and editing artist statements and exhibition texts within the art scene – providing flow to the text and nuance to the subject matter. From there, the transition into the professional field was a very natural one.

My services focus on using clear and inviting language that is content-driven yet evocative.

Each text is unique and requires a fresh perspective. A challenge that I relish.

So, if you’re seeking a quality English translation that hits the right note… I would love to hear from you.
